Weekly Training: 5/23/11 – 5/29/11

There is nothing quite like the brilliant neon green of a New England Spring to motivate one to explore the plentiful wooded trails in the area. Rather than dreading the relentless mileage that I’ve been putting in, I’ve been looking forward to it each and every day as an opportunity to discover my surroundings. I’ve enjoyed it so much that I tallied an epic 109.7 miles with a total elevation gain of over 13,000 feet! This is my biggest week of training EVER!

Rather than feeling sluggish and tired, I feel great. On Saturday, I had my best placement in a New England Mountain Series race, with a 2nd place finish to Jim Johnson at Wachusett Mountain. My body seems to be responding well to the mileage and no aches, pains or strains are in sight. With two weeks until the U.S.A. Half Marathon Trail Championships, I’m right on target and in the best shape of my life. It looks to be a phenomenal Summer 🙂
