How to Eliminate ‘Runner’s Knee’ Pain
Today I want to share my success story in dealing with ‘runner’s knee’ pain. Many runners experience pain and swelling in the knee after long runs or high mileage increases. The most common cause of this pain is a condition known as patellofemoral syndrome, more commonly known as runner’s knee. This pain is caused by the knee cap rubbing on the sides of the femoral groove (at the base of the femur bone). This rubbing causes swelling and inflammation. Continue reading

Weekly Training: June 6th – 12th, 2011
Failing to plan is planning to fail. But even the best laid plans are mere guideposts on your journey. My plan of not taking any rest days was quickly derailed this week by various elements and I had to simply re-adjust. Perhaps my legs needed a day or two to freshen up. I always try to see the best in every derailment… Continue reading

The unknown has too great a pull on the decisions I make in regards to my moving forward in life. This approach has not been without downsides… Continue reading

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood? Honestly, I have no idea, but I do know that they can easily outrun me after a long trail run. Another hundred mile week under my belt and I am beat. The continuous miles have deadened my legs and shortened my stride. So you can imagine my surprise when… Continue reading

Getting sick for nearly 3 weeks in February really shook my confidence and threw me abruptly off of my training path. After 2 months I have finally begun to build back up to my desired training load and regain confidence. With only 3 weeks till the U.S. 15k Trail Running Championships in Spokane, WA, I’m hoping that I’ll be ready in time to defend my Masters gold medal. Continue reading
