Tim VanOrden’s Running Raw Times August 3rd, 2011

Just before the start of the Mount Washington Road Race, the race director informs the anxious crowd that there is nothing to fear, “there is only one hill.” That lone ‘hill’ just happens to be the tallest mountain in the northeast and stands at 6,288 feet high. But nonetheless, it is just one hill. Continue reading

Tim VanOrden’s Running Raw Times – January 31st, 2011

The Top Ten of 2010
The year 2010 can summed up in a single sentence – “As you sow, so shall you reap.” After five years of what seemed at times to be an exercise in futility, I actually have some results that I’m proud to share. The pride I feel is not based in my own egotistical needs for validation, but in the knowing that there is now rock solid evidence that one can reach the peak of athletic performance on a diet of simple fruits and vegetables. In 1804, the explorers Lewis and Clark set out on a mission to find a gentle passage to the west coast which ended successfully in Oregon. Tim VanOrden’s Running Raw Times – March 5th, 2010

The Year in Review?
Many people think that I live a charmed life. I get to run, hike, race, travel, talk to people and basically do whatever I want. What could be better? In many regards this is true. I have chosen to pursue something that I believe in strongly, something that I believe can make a difference. There is great freedom in that choice. But there is also great responsibility and sacrifice… Continue reading

November 3rd marked the 4th Anniversary of the Running Raw Project and my 5th anniversary of stepping on to the raw path. Tim VanOrden’s Running Raw Times – October 15th, 2008

As a troubled teen, trying to find my place in the world, my father told me that “all glory is fleeting”. It was a quote from General George Patton, who was remarking on the lavish victory celebrations of ancient Rome. Continue reading
