Van Orden breaks record at Mt. Ashland Hill Climb
The idyllic town of Ashland, Oregon is known for three things; the award winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival, world famous Lithia Park, and one of the best ultra-running trail scenes on the planet. The course gains 5,700 feet in elevation (more than a vertical mile). Only the Pikes Peak Ascent in Colorado climbs higher. Continue reading

Weekly Training: June 6th – 12th, 2011
Failing to plan is planning to fail. But even the best laid plans are mere guideposts on your journey. My plan of not taking any rest days was quickly derailed this week by various elements and I had to simply re-adjust. Perhaps my legs needed a day or two to freshen up. I always try to see the best in every derailment… Continue reading

Hungry for greens in Hungary.
This past week I returned from my first ever trip to Europe. Well, if I’m to be perfectly honest I should say that most of me returned. There is a still a part of me that fell in love with the culture, lifestyle and architecture of the place and remained behind. The bulk of my trip was spent in Budapest (pronounced Booduhpesht), the bustling capital city of Hungary. Which from all accounts, is one of the prettiest and liveliest cities in Europe. Tim VanOrden’s Running Raw Times – March 22nd, 2008
A good soldier will march all day long for the right leader or cause. If you were to ask them if they minded the monotony and physical labor of such a task, I’m sure they would almost all respond with “yes, I mind”. But a good soldier does what they are supposed to do, even when it bothers, exhausts or frightens them. Continue reading
